Erasmus helps a professional growth
There is participation opportunity of one student in a program of academic mobility Erasmus+ in 2019 according to an agreement between Stefan cel Mare university and Chernivtsi Institute of Trade and Economics of Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics.
Olha Shchavinska, the 4th year student, 245 group, majoring in «Finance, banking and insurance» took part in this program in a period during 09/01/19 to 09/03/19. Olha had an internship at OTP bank in Suceava, Romania and shared her experience.
Introductiona to Stefan cel Mare university in Suceava was done with the help of her university coordinator Accos. Prof. Mihai Popescu, coordinator of Erasmus program Assoc. Prof. Angela Albu and the Dean of economic department, Assoc. Prof. Carmen Nastase.
She has studied bank products for individuals and legal entities, translated bank payment documents and instruction to them on the beginning of the internship. The student analyzed Romanian macroeconomics indicators and financial statement of OTP Bank. She has found out a lot of differences between banking systems of Ukraine and Romania, namely, higher transparency level of financial and accounting statements and protection of depositors in Romanian experience. She has attended university courses of professors from Spain, Germany and Romania. She had an opportunity to represent a project «Chernivtsi tourism attractiveness» and has got a certificate of completing a course «Strategic Communication».
She had a mentor in a bank, director of OTP bank in Suceava – Cobashim Grozavu. He has introduced the student to a corporative culture and functional departments of the bank. Olha was observing a performance of daily bank operations, filling payment orders, cash withdrawal for legal entities, declaration of operations in foreign currency, working with bank archive. She had access to speaking with clients and bank managers who explained bank rules. A participation in the internship let her to improve communication skills, quick problem solving, attention to details, analytic skills and self-discipline. Every day work in bank let her to improve English and opportunity to learn Romanian, especially, in banking field.
She has visited famous Romanian universities such as Iasi university Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Cluj Napoca BabeÅŸ Bolyai university and region department of the National bank of Romania. She has attended main office of OTP bank and The National Bank of Romania in Bucharest city.
She plans to use gained experience in further banking work in Ukraine because the internship has showed that it’s the field where she wants to work. This mobility program has showed to her globalization influence on banking system, namely, the tendency of an optimizing an amount of bank workers and expansion of internet bank using.
